RDS Macra na Feirme Young Sheep Farmer Scholarships 2010
The Royal Dublin Society wishes to acknowledge the importance of the sheep industry in Ireland by providing a travel and educational scholarship to a worthy young sheep farmer. The RDS has teamed up with Macra na Feirme and media partners the Irish Farmers Journal to identify a suitable candidate for selection.
Applicants can be full time or part-time sheep farmers or students aspiring to become a sheep farmer. Eligible applicants must be under 35 years of age on the date of application and a member of Macra. The winner of the scholarship will be expected to undertake self organised international travel for a minimum of 6 weeks to a value of €3,000 for the benefit of learning about sheep farming and gaining knowledge that will subsequently benefit the individual in Ireland.
Also North Kildare Sheep Producers Group, IFA are also offering a second travel and educational scholarship for a young sheep farmer to New Zealand for a young sheep farmer. This second scholarship will also be awarded under the aegis of the RDS and is part funded by FBD Insurance. The winner of the scholarship will be expected to undertake work placement in New Zealand for up to 6 months to a value of €3,000. Application forms for both scholarships are available from www.macra.ie and completed forms should be returned to Derry Dillon Macra na Feirme, Irish farm Centre, Bluebell, Dublin 12 on or before 14th June 2010.
