Macra Meets with Minister Calleary to Promote Farmers’ Health and Safety
14 May 2010
On Wednesday 13th May many Macra members joined Minister Dara Calleary, Minister for Labour Affairs on the farm of Pat Duffy and family, Oldtown, Co. Dublin to discuss raising awareness of health and safety issues on farms.
Macra continues to be one of the more active farm organisations in promoting better health and safety standards on Irish farms. Many Macra groups are organising safety demonstrations at their farm walks and have included a safety element in all relevant Macra competitions. Furthermore, Micheal Larkin represents Macra on the Farm Safety Partnership Advisory Committee. This committee works closely with the Health and Safety Authority. Macra’s chairperson of Agricultural Affairs, Kieran McEvoy has again called on young farmers to be vigilant at this busy time of year and to ensure that the farm risk assessment document is up to date.
