Twenty-two teams to compete in Farmskills Semi-Finals
The farmskills competition takes the form of an academic exam followed by practical tests such as post driving, stock-proof fencing, gate hanging and tractor skills. The aims of the competition are to help young farmers develop various farm skills and techniques; to demonstrate to the public the skill required in modern farming; and to create greater awareness of farm safety.
This years semi-finals have a total of 22 teams taking part.
At Corrundualla Show: Knockbride, Cavan; Mid Clare, Clare; Callan, Kilkenny; Durrow/Abbeyleix, Laois; North Louth, Louth; Longwood/Kilyon, Meath; Tydavnet, Monaghan; Midway, Sligo; Ballycoogue, Wicklow; Moylough, Galway and Kiltealy/Ballindaggin, Wexford.
At Clonmel Show: Ballyhoura, Avondhu; Kilmeen, Carbery; Glanmire, Seandun; Ballynoe, Imokilly; Causeway, Kerry; Rathangan, Kildare ; Shannonside, Limerick; Ferbane, Offaly; Dundrum, Sth Tipperary; Clodagh, Nth Tipperary and Ballyduff/Ballysaggart, Waterford.
Events kick off at both shows at 11.00am. Six teams will make it through to the national final of the competition which will be held at Tullamore Agricultural Show on August 12.
