Macra encourages CAO applicants to consider a career in agriculture
13 January 2007
Macra national president Colm Markey is encouraging young people to consider a career in agriculture as the closing date for initial CAO applications approaches on 1 February.
Mr Markey pointed out that a number of third level courses currently being offered in Irish agricultural colleges were nationally accredited and offered students the opportunity to progress to degree level. He also highlighted how valuable it was for young people keen to pursue a career in agricultural to have a recognised qualification.
'Trained young farmers have many valuable incentives available to them at farm transfer stage such as Stamp Duty Relief, Stock Relief and Installation Aid. These incentives are all conditional on having an agricultural qualification,' he said.
