Macra na Feirme to discuss partnership talks at AGM

05 May 2006
Macra na Feirme will decide at its Annual General Meeting in Cork tomorrow (Saturday, 6 May) whether to return to the social partnership talks.

The organisation suspended its involvement in the talks in February this year, accusing the Government of not taking farmer concerns over the nitrates action programme seriously.

National president Colm Markey said he was putting the item on the agenda for discussion at the AGM as he felt it was appropriate for delegates from all over the country to have their say on the organisation's future participation in social partnership.
