Weekend of Competitions takes Place for Macra

Teams from Cork, Kilkenny, Meath and Laois took home titles last weekend when the All-Ireland finals of the NDC Basketball and Kerrygold Club Question Time quiz took place in Dublin.

Kinsale Macra, Seandun, Cork won first place at the quiz showing their general knowledge and grace under pressure. The quiz took place in the Irish Farm Centre on Saturday, the 19th March. In second place was Kilkenny City Macra and in third was Meath’s Athboy Macra.

The following day, at the NDC Basketball final, Terelton Macra, Muskerry, Cork took home the title in the women’s category while Slieve Bloom Macra, Co. Laois took home the mens title. Runners up were Whitechurch Macra, Seandun, Cork in the womens and Mitchelstown Macra, Avondhu, Cork in the mens category. The competition took place in the ALSAA centre in Dublin.

The winning team members have won themselves a place on the annual prize-winners trip in the Autumn.

Macra National President, Sean Finan, said, “It was a great weekend of competitions for Macra showing the diversity of activities. There is something for everyone in Macra whether you like sports, drama, public speaking, agriculture or you like to demonstrate your general knowledge. Well done to all the members who took part and represented their counties exceptionally well”.
