Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Simon Coveney will officially open the Macra na Feirme Annual Conference at an opening ceremony taking place tomorrow evening in the Radisson Blu, Little Island, Cork. The Minister will open the conference alongside fellow Cork man, Macra na Feirme National President, Alan Jagoe at 7.30pm.
Macra na Feirme’s annual conference (or Rally) is taking place all weekend (October 28th-31st) in the Radisson Blu hotel, Little Island, Co. Cork and thousands are set to attend. The annual conference incorporates the Young Farmers conference as well as the national finals of a number of our competitions.
The theme of this year’s agricultural conference is “Agriculture-Moving Ireland’s Economy forward” and will address how the agricultural industry can be a vehicle for economic recovery. Delegates attending the Annual Young Farmer Conference at the Rally will participate in either the Dairy or the Beef/Tillage event.
The annual conference also plays host to the national finals of the Irish Farmers Journal Know Your Ag Quiz, AIB Club of the Year and Best New Member competition as well as the Bord Bia stockjudging competitions.
At the rally this year, Macra na Feirme are delighted to host the young farmer photo exhibition by CEJA, which is currently on a tour of all member countries. Two Macra members are featured in the exhibition which is the result of an agricultural photo competition run by the European young farmers organisation.
