Macra na Feirme urges Driver Safety over Bank holiday weekend

Chair of Macra na Feirme’s Rural Youth Initiative Committee, Ger Griffin, has called on road users to take extra care over the October bank holiday weekend, particularly Macra members travelling to the Annual Conference in the Radisson Blu, Little Island in Cork. The RSA Road Safety Shuttle will be present at the Annual Conference again this year and is open to the public. Local schools have been invited to learn about road safety at the Macra conference on Friday.

Mr. Griffin said, “With drivers on the roads for longer distances over the weekend and following the recent bad weather, road users must heed advice from the RSA to avoid driving when tired, when weather makes driving unsafe and driving too fast. Thousands of Macra members will attend the annual conference this weekend, and they are encouraged to take care when travelling to Cork. I encourage all Macra members and members of the local community to come along and visit the RSA shuttle over the course of the weekend.”

“The message is make it a memorable one for all the right reasons and slow down, wear your seat belt, don’t drink and drive and be aware of the dangers of driver fatigue.”
