2017 Macra na Feirme Challenge Cup

On the 13th of June Macra na Feirme will take to the pitch in Croke Park where 60 players will get to experience what it feels like to play in the historic stadium as they partake in the 2017 Macra na Feirme Challenge Cup.

It’s an event that has been months in the making and next Tuesday, 60 people will make their dream of playing in Croke Park a reality. Macra na Feirme is privileged to be one of the few organisations outside of the GAA to take the field in Croke Park. The aim of this prestigious event is to raise much needed funds for Macra na Feirme to continue supporting young farmers and our rural youth throughout Ireland.

There will be two football matches, each lasting 35 minutes with the first game throwing at 6pm. All those taking part will have full use of Croke Park’s match day facilities as we seek to mirror the ‘big match’ experience as much as possible.

All Ireland winners Pat Spillane and John O’Mahony will each manage a team on the day and legendary commentator Micheal O ‘Muircheartaigh will address the crowd at the post match reception in Croke Park. It promises to be a memorable day for all involved and each player will receive a souvenir match kit as well as a medal marking the occasion.

There are still a very limited number of places available on the teams if you would like to play, those who are interested can find out more by visiting www.macra.ie/crokepark or by emailing jcoffey@macra.ie. However if you would simply like to come along to Croke Park on the day and cheer on the Macra na Feirme teams you can do so free of charge. Simply visit the Macra na Feirme ticket page or call our national office on 01 426 8900 to get your free tickets to the matches.

For the supporters attending on the day who wish to go to the post match banquet there is a charge and you must reserve your seat, please call our national office for more details or visit our ticket page. Those of us with an interest in GAA can easily recall remarkable moments that have occurred in this great stadium and now thanks to Croke Park and the GAA, Macra na Feirme players have an opportunity to make their own.
