Two in a Row - Kilkenny Macra win NDC All-Ireland Bowling Final

The All-Ireland final of Macra’s National Dairy Council bowling competition took place last weekend with the team from Callan Macra, Co. Kilkenny taking home the title for a second year in a row!

Incredibly, also taking home silver for the second year running was the Glanmire Macra team from Seandun, Cork.

24 teams from across the country took part in the national final of the competition, which was held in Cosmic Bowling in Tullamore on Sunday, 10th November.

Macra na Feirme National President, Kieran O’Dowd, said, “Congratulations to Callan Macra and all the teams that took part. Bowling is a great way to get involved and play sports and have fun while you’re doing it.”

Being active is crucial for health and wellbeing and Macra, along with the National Dairy Council, are keen to emphasise the benefits of both exercise and healthy eating. Drinking a glass of skimmed milk after taking part in sports is a great way to rehydrate as a number of research studies indicated.

The National Dairy Council are Macra’s Health and Wellbeing partner and provide health and wellbeing information on the Macra website www.macra.ie. Macra and the National Dairy Council run five sporting competitions: bowling, basketball, indoor soccer, 7-a-side Gaelic football and volleyball.
