Roscommon Teams Dominate NDC 7-a-side Gaelic Football All-Ireland

The final of Macra’s National Dairy Council 7-a-side Gaelic football competition took place in St. Brigids GAA club, Kiltoom, Athlone, Co. Roscommon on Sunday October 6th.  

The team from South Roscommon Macra beat the Coolaney Macra team from Sligo to take the women’s NDC Macra na Feirme Gaelic Football 7-a-side title. In the men’s final of the competition, South Roscommon Macra also went home with the top prize beating Ardcath Macra, Co. Meath.

Competitors from Macra clubs all over the country battled it out for the title and a place on the Macra prize-winners trip next year.

Macra na Feirme National President, Kieran O’Dowd, congratulated all the teams that took part. He said, “Keeping fit is a big part of the healthy lifestyle promoted by Macra and our Health & Wellbeing partners, the NDC. Taking part is also fun! As an organisation, Macra are working hard to promote healthy living recently with our Feirme Bodies initiative and dairy is an important cornerstone of a healthy diet.”

The National Dairy Council are Macra’s Health and Wellbeing partners and provide health and wellbeing information on the Macra website www.macra.ie. Members can find information on health, nutrition, seminars along with recipes.
