“Tag rugby is a great team sport and is a good way to promote both team work and leadership, skills. It’s a fun sport which a person with any level of fitness can participate in. I encourage all Macra members to go on to the Health & Wellbeing section of the macra.ie website, sponsored by the National Dairy Council, to get information on maintaining a healthy lifestyle and how dairy plays a part in a healthy diet.”

Caroline Gittens, Treble R Macra, said, "We in Treble R are delighted following winning the NDC Tag Rugby competition last Sunday in Portlaoise and couldn't be more proud to win the competition in the name of Treble R. Winning last weekend was made even sweeter as it is a result that we feel occured following a large amount of preparation, dedication and training that the club members have put in over the last few years.

Sport is an integral element of the Macra calender, an element of Macra life that Trebe R never stray away from, even if we didn't go home with a medal, our spirit never wavered continuing to enter into any sporting competition Macra had to offer. We view health and fittness is a vital element to this aspect of being a Macra member and have for many years endevored increase our fittness as a club. We always continue to encourage new members to join us playing the sport, and even carry out training sessions between our matches should our schedules allow. Members who historically would have viewed themselves as 'non sporty' now find themselves entering into 10km road races or even cycling aroud the 'ring of kerry'.

Last weekend our opposition in the final was Tullamore. They played a very skillful game and we were lucky to overcome them in the end, and we would like to thank them for such an enjoyable game. Hopefully they are as proud to have reached the final. Treble R left Portlaoise happy to report that our team left the group stage of the competition without conceding a try and deighted have achieved 1st place in the competition."
