Meath Macra Club win the National Dairy Council All-Ireland Bowling Final

The national finals of Macra’s NDC bowling competition took place last weekend with the team from Ardcath Macra, Meath winning the title.

The Ardcath team consisted of David Bell, Dan Boxwell, Tomas Rowley, Thelma Clarkin, Bernadette Coyle and Helena Coyle. In second place was the Ballinascarthy team from Carbey, Cork.

18 teams from across the country took part in the national final of the competition, which was held in Cosmic Bowling in Tullamore on Sunday, 13th November.

Macra and the National Dairy Council run five sporting competitions: bowling, basketball, indoor soccer, 7-a-side Gaelic football and volleyball. Macra na Feirme National President, Alan Jagoe, said, “Congratulations to Ardcath Macra and all the teams that took part. Bowling is a fun and inclusive sport that provides a good social outlet to members. There is a variety of sports for members to take part in, varying in physical activity. You don’t have to be an athlete to take part in bowling but there are many advantages, for example, it helps in burning calories and works muscle groups not usually exercised.”
